Christian Sowe is a consultant and advisor at We Do Democracy, where he works to develop organizations’ democratic practices and create stronger opportunities for participation among members, citizens, and volunteers. He has a keen eye for how engagement can foster a sense of belonging and ownership.

Christian offers an analytical perspective on how democratic ideas can be translated into organizational and strategic development. He is interested in how dialogue and engagement can give people who do not always have easy access to democratic forums the opportunity to influence the decisions that affect them.

Christian is a trained mason and later earned a master’s degree in sociology from the University of Copenhagen, where he specialized in democratic organizations, qualitative process analyses, and the green transition. He has practical experience with sustainable construction from several employee-owned companies. In addition, he has experience with political advocacy through civil society organizations and in-depth knowledge of the unique characteristics of democratic enterprises. Among other things, he has worked at the think tank Demokratisk Erhverv on organizational development, analysis, member democracy, and the development of ownership policies.

He also has experience with the green transition and energy communities and has studied how local stakeholders organize themselves around new solutions and build local support and legitimacy.
