Citizens’ assemblies have gained popularity in Denmark in recent years. More and more municipalities are trying out new methods of citizen involvement, and citizen gatherings are one of the methods that have really taken off. Citizens’ assemblies are an ambitious way to involve a representative sample of citizens who are given a real mandate and develop recommendations for politicians over a period of time.
How can Denmark take a leading position when it comes to involving and engaging citizens in a way that creates value for citizens, politicians and administration? Maybe citizen assembly is the way forward! From an international perspective, citizen gatherings have long been a great success.
