Many people can describe and advocate for deliberative citizens’ assemblies, but few in Europe are capable and experienced enough to lead the deliberative phase itself. That part of the process remains the most difficult to learn. As the focus in the deliberative field increasingly turns towards institutionalization and scaling, we risk undermining the very processes we want to institutionalize if scaling does not also include investments in high-quality facilitation.
We want to improve the broad understanding of deliberative facilitation in Europe, share discussions with the field of practitioners and raise the quality of facilitation practices.
We therefore start with the question: What should a driving deliberative facilitator know and do?
Join us for a presentation and discussion on the new lead facilitator competency model developed by We Do Democracy and FIDE – Europe.
