Meet Rob Hopkins and train your imagination in local switching

Can you imagine a different green and democratic future? Knowledge, technology and innovation can take us far, but the superpower for the great transformation of our society is your and my imagination.

Facts

Can you imagine that a different green and democratic future is possible?
Knowledge, technology and innovation can take us a long way, but the crucial superpower for the transformation of our society is your and my imagination.
We Do Democracy and Democracy Garage, in collaboration with BLOXHUB’s REGEN network, present English author and green thinker Rob Hopkins on
September 13th.
Two days filled with talks, events and conversations.
In collaboration with Demokrati Garage and the City of Copenhagen – with support from the Nordea Foundation Rob Hopkins has for more than 15 years been a global source of inspiration for local green transition – a person who has led the way with the mindset that too little happens too slowly if you wait for those in charge.
An approach that in many ways has inspired the establishment of both We Do Democracy and Democracy Garage in Copenhagen In a time of growing polarization and lack of political vision, it sometimes seems like the only thing we can all agree on is that the future is getting worse.
An epidemic of loneliness, anxiety, conflict, catastrophic climate change, loss of biodiversity and a deferential parliamentary system that leaves room for hate, populism and ‘weirdos’.
BUT the world is also full of shining examples of visionary and committed citizens, businesses and politicians who can change society, quickly, dramatically and unexpectedly.
We’ve invited Rob Hopkins, co-founder of the Transition Towns movement, who has transformed his own small English town of Totnes and inspired the world.
Here the community has become its own housing developer, energy company, business incubator and food producer.
We need communities, businesses and leaders who are not afraid to take the lead and act on the big, hard questions and rethink our economy and society.
If we can transform an entire street or city, we can transform the world – street by street and city by city.

The event will feature free communal food, hands-on work with a section of Rentemestervej and a conversation between Rob Hopkins, co-founder of the Transition network, who will share experiences of transition streets from around the world.
The conversations will be moderated by Zakia Elvang, co-founder of Democracy Garage and democracy advisor.
