We continue as independent and professional expert advisors with a focus on democratic renewal and work for a more sustainable democracy where more citizens have more influence over their own lives and the society they are part of. By registering, we commit to the socially beneficial purpose in the way we work and reinvest our profits in the democratic agenda.
It’s the right path for us! From the start, we wanted to show that as a private company you can work for a clear social democratic agenda. It’s in our DNA when we run democracy processes and have founded a place like the Democracy Garage.
We hope that the registration as a social economy company can contribute to new types of collaborations and democracy projects, especially in strengthening collaborations with other democracy actors, organizations and foundations that, like us, are concerned about the future of democracy. We are looking into a future with increasing democratic conflicts and difficult societal conversations, where we as independent consultants can demonstrate that our projects always work on the side of democracy – also financially.
From the beginning, our bylaws have been purpose-driven with a focus on developing and promoting vibrant and participatory democracy. We think we’re well on our way! Today, We Do Democracy has run more than 200 participatory and democratic processes for private and public clients in Denmark and around the world. We soon implemented 20 citizen assemblies and citizen things in Denmark, based on the OECD principles. And, in collaboration with Analyse & Tal, has invested in building the first meeting place for innovation in democracy in the form of the Democracy Garage in Northwest.
