We Do Democracy in collaboration with BLOXHUB and the City of Copenhagen.
In a time of growing polarization and lack of political courage, it sometimes seems like the only thing we can all agree on is that the future will be terrible.
An epidemic of loneliness and anxiety, wars and conflicts, extremist movements, foot dragging governments, catastrophic climate change, biodiversity loss and increasing food insecurity.
The list of crises is long.
BUT, there are plenty of examples of how visionary and committed citizens, businesses and politicians can change society, quickly, dramatically and unexpectedly.
We’ve invited Rob Hopkins, co-founder of the Transition Towns movement, who has seen it happen first-hand around the world and in his own small English town of Totnes.
Here the community has become its own housing developer, energy company, business incubator and food producer.

About Rob Hopkins
Rob Hopkins is co-founder of Transition Network and Transition Town Totnes, author of several books including The Transition Handbook, From What Is to What If and Ministry of Imagination.
Transition movement co-founder Rob Hopkins has seen first-hand local green and radical transformations and new forms of democratic leadership developing locally across the world and in his own home town of Totnes, England.
Here, the community has established its own housing developers, energy company, business incubator and local food network – with cascading benefits for the community that go far beyond individual projects.
