Junior consultant
Can you lead, transform and create compelling solutions to the major crises of our time?
We Do Democracy are leading expert advisors in deliberative democracy, democracy innovation and participation. We are a democratic and organically growing consultancy with assignments throughout Denmark, the Nordics and the world.
We are an interdisciplinary team committed to democratic renewal and leading big change. Our tasks range from organizing and facilitating deliberative formats such as citizens’ assemblies and citizens’ consultations for municipalities and running national democracy programs. We lead an international democracy fitness program, help large member organizations renew their operations and develop strategies for the future of participatory democracy processes.
We typically work for organizations that, like us, are democratically organized. These include the public sector, democratic business, foundations and large membership organizations, as well as development and utility companies. More and more large international projects – both in the Nordics and the rest of the world – are taking over our world. We therefore need to get more strong profiles on board.
The job
You’re a student who wants to help move the world in a more democratic direction. We don’t require you to have experience with the qualifications below, although that is of course a plus. The most important thing is a desire to learn and a strong “I can do it” attitude.

Tasks typically span across:
- Support the planning, execution and facilitation of democratic processes
- Conduct analysis and research, using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Contribute to the development and design of new projects – including co-writing applications and projects
- Communication on projects and We Do Democracy channels
- Solve ad hoc tasks
Your profile – ideally
- Are interested in democracy, participation, citizen involvement and policy development – and preferably have professional insight in the field
- Has emerging strong project management skills – good at keeping an overview, initiative and can work independently
- Tech skills – data management and AI flair
- Experience teaching and/or facilitating – e.g. smaller processes
- Likes to work networked and in different collaborations
- Is a good communicator, is articulate and can convey complex methods and issues in an understandable way
- Eager to learn, thorough, smart and basically in a good mood

Be part of a unique democratic value proposition
We live in a time when democracy is under historic pressure. Climate change, technological development, centralization of power, geopolitical conflicts, autocracies and fragile political institutions call for strong organizations working to renew our democratic participatory formats.
We work for more and better democracy, the liberal values of freedom and are committed to creating a society where more people have greater influence on their own lives and the systems we are all part of. Our projects range from citizens’ assemblies and citizens’ consultations to advising democratic organizational change and development projects to strengthen democratic participation for more people.
We are part of a growing international democracy sector and over 25% of our assignments are internationally oriented, where we advise on democracy and participatory processes. In the coming year, for example, a national citizens’ consultation on sustainable consumption and the management of the Norwegian oil wealth in a more sustainable direction. Together with national knowledge actors, we are developing a Democratic Impact Measurement Tool, working with citizen-driven sustainable tourism development, a nationwide representation network, the Copenhagen Climate Citizens’ Parliament and a wide range of other development projects. In addition, we run training programs where we exercise democratic muscles and masterclasses on deliberative democracy around the world.
About us
We are a flat, fast-paced organization where tasks often follow interest and energy. The team today consists of consultants from political science, political communication, ethnology over geography and modern culture and aesthetics and management. We are constantly growing and developing, and the portfolio of assignments is expanding both internationally and in versatility.
We work throughout the country/north, and as our citizen-facing work is mainly on citizens’ days off and projects are sometimes abroad, travel and dynamic working hours are occasionally part of the job.
We are located at Demokrati Garage on Rentemestervej in Nordvest – an entrepreneurial environment with many different organizations working with democracy internationally, in Denmark.
